I did it. I wasn’t going to, I was going to resist. Really, the PS3 didn’t have that many games I was interested in. But they did have ff13, and I could play Sacred 2 without having to spend a fortune buying a new laptop. And there’s Dragon Age Origins. Which puts me at my 3-games to buy a system persuasion. With actual, steady income coming in, I don’t feel too guilty about getting it.
Ah, my lovely PS3. Just want to give a shout out to Best Buy for searching through their warehouse for about 20 minutes while my friend and I were fooling around. The guy had said they didn’t have one, but went and searched like crazy and found one last one and suddenly brought it out while we were fooling around. I didn’t even ask him to look, so kudos for great customer service. He made some suggestions of basics I should get with it, but buying a second controller after the amount I spent just didn’t fly. Of course I went back the next day and bought one…
With the PS3, I bought Final Fantasy 13. I’m saving it for my next three day weekend though, because I have a feeling I’ll need the time to just sit and play. I did go grab Sacred 2, along with that second controller, the next day. Again, Best Buy had what other stores didn’t, so still impressed.
I’ve been enjoying Sacred 2, but the multiplayer on the same console sucks. If I had known that, I might not have bought it. But more on that later when I get to reviewing it. I haven’t yet tried the Netflix streaming, but it seems like it will be neat even if the selection is limited. One thing I do like about the PS3 is that you can download demo’s of games so you can try it before you decide to get it. Smart on their part, but dumb that they don’t have demos of the more popular games like Dragon Age Origins.
I enjoy the wireless controller, and charging it through the PS3 isn’t bad. System runs smoothly, pretty user friendly. I’m thinking about putting some music on it, and it plays dvd’s well. Cheapest Blu-Ray player you can get. I don’t have an HDTV, so the graphics are almost too intense. On Sacred 2, a lot of the text I can’t read because my TV, while of good quality and rather large, is not good enough to display such high graphics. Really, and HDTV would go best if you plan on buying a PS3, but that was an added expense I couldn’t afford. If you do have the right tv, you have to buy special hookups. Just FYI.
For now, I’m downloading the demo for Little Big Planet. Seems interesting. Oh, did I mention that you can download stuff in the background while you’re playing a game? I admit the PS3 is a nice system, and I’m enjoying it. I hope to find out more features and that it will be useful in other areas rather than just games.
